There is a problem: the new computer is a lot like Apple’s MacBook Air. Even she was named My Notebook Air .
The similarities probably unleash critics who tildan Xiaomi a copycat inspired too much on Apple for their designs.
Xiaomi executives have struggled to get rid of this reputation.
Hugo Barra, the highest international company executive, said the allegations are pure “melodrama”. He insists that the company is innovative and presumes that use curved glass on the back of their smartphones .
Jonathan Ive, Apple’s design director, has a different opinion. “I think it’s quite obvious,” he said of Xiaomi end of 2014. “It’s theft and laziness. I do not think it’s anything right.”
When Ive made these comments, Xiaomi became one of the technology companies hippest on Earth. In 2015, the company even managed to dethrone Apple and Samsung and queen of the market smartphones in China again.
But since then, his luck ebbed and division smartphones fell to their Chinese rivals, including Huawei.
