Apple Inc. is working with partners in the US and Asia to develop a new wireless charging technology that can be used on their mobile phones as early as next year, according to people familiar with the plans.

Apple is exploring cutting-edge technologies that allow iPhones and iPads be recharged from a farther distance with mat chargers used with current smart phones, people asked said no be identified because the details are private.
