Only 38% of the world population has used the Internet, says study – RPP News

Only 38% percent of the world population has successfully connected at least once in their life to the Internet, according to research published Wednesday by the Internet.org platform, driven by social networking Facebook .

The study, entitled “State of connectivity: Report on the global Internet,” examines the current state of network connectivity and analyzes who is connected and who does not and why

According to their findings, in early 2015, there have been about 3,000 million people “online”, meaning that only 38% of the world population has ever connected to the Internet from their computers or mobile devices.

This difference is exacerbated if developed and developing countries are compared, as in the first the number of people that has never been connected to the Internet is 32% while in the second, 78% have never accessed the network.

In addition, the study highlights that Internet adoption has slowed for the fourth consecutive year, falling from 14.7% in 2010 to 6.6% in 2014.

Experts estimate that the current rate of deceleration, the population have access to the network does not reach 4,000 million by 2019
