(CNNMoney) – The Federal Communications Commission (FCC for its acronym in English), the regulator telecommunications in the United States, approved Thursday a historic step to regulate the Internet in the country.

The new rules, known as “net neutrality”, allow equal opportunity for speeds in internet and access to the sites.

The commission led by Democrats approved 3-2, divided between the two parties, the measure to ensure the government’s authority over the Internet.

The rules of FCC probably will not be official until summer.

Then, the largest telecommunications companies will face new rules in court. A judge can pause the rules. The next president, whether Republican, could turn this discussion.

That is why, in the medium term, nothing changes.

No, no Netflix suddenly begin transmitting faster . Neither AT & T or Comcast stopped abruptly cables optimal high-speed fiber neighborhoods in retaliation. And yes, Netflix can still reach agreements with broadband companies to have faster access to a network.

So what’s just happened exactly?

The FCC also granted the power to defeat the owners of monopoly networks that can kill Internet freedom by blocking websites – or by creating a rail high speed internet for the few privileged rich companies technology that can pay for it.

That’s why some are concerned about how the FCC just ensure net neutrality.

To enforce the rules of equity, agency owners regulate the gaming network taking them under Title II of the Act of 1934 Telecommunications Act, a specific set of regulations that apply to telephone companies, a set of rules that apply to telephone companies.

No trust (companies) in the promise of the FCC to apply only a small fraction of those rules and do not regulate tariffs and tax increases.

“Measures how are you not tend to last long,” said Republican FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai.

“Expect … regulation to the passage of time,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tom Wheeler, chairman of the FCC who got rid of their original repayment plan for such marking, said that this is not a government takeover.

“This is no more a plan to regulate the internet of the First Amendment, is a plan to regulate freedom of expression, “said

.” Both represent the same concept. openness, expression and absence of participants ”
