Discover streams of water on Mars – Univision

NASA said Monday they have found the strongest evidence that Mars runs saltwater at least during the summer. This finding brings to the table the possibility of life on Mars and a first trip in the future .

Scientists say they have monitored mysterious streams were salty streaks on the slopes of the red planet.

“Our mission to Mars has been to follow the water in our search for life the universe, “he said at a press conference John Grunsfeld, astronaut directory and associated science in Washington NASA administrator.

“This is a significant breakthrough that seems to confirm that although water flows salada- today on the surface of Mars,” said the scientist.

With the use of technology, researchers observed images of dark, narrow currents in the Martian surface they tend to appear and grow during the warmer months of Mars and fade with decreasing temperatures.

The salt reduces the freezing point of water, which would explain these seasonal flows, the scientists said.

Back in 2008, researchers had confirmed the presence of ice blocks on the planet, but these latest observations confirmed suspicions about saltwater currents. This boosts the theory that living organisms such as bacteria, living on Mars .

“It seems that the more we study Mars, more we learn about how they could support life on Mars and where there are resources for the future, “said Michael Meyer, chief scientist of the Mars Exploration Program at NASA Headquarters in Washington agency.

The former NASA astronaut Jose Hernandez told Univision News that e l discovery contradicts those who doubted the possibility of life on Mars and opens the possibility for a first trip .

“We visit this planet. It has opened a big door for science,” says Hernandez. “I hope the discovery will serve to allocate a budget for travel to Mars to study and make a lot of technology to be developed is needed,” he says.

Some of the obstacles to overcome are fueling en route , control of radiation to humans and new ways of producing food within the ship and to reduce their weight.

Had disposal astronaut believes that in about 25 years, scientists could step on the planet .

The findings presented Monday, come from a NASA probe has been orbiting Mars since 2006.
