Durita Dahl Andreassen was born in Torshavn, capital of the islands and works in the entity that promotes tourism in the country. Aware that the territory where he was born is one of the most unexplored world decided to launch a campaign for Google bring your system registry street ‘Google Street view’ to their nation.
The petition was not heard but Andreassen did not stop. With the help of two teammates decided to create a system to adjust cameras sheep and they, in their travels, recorded the landscapes of the islands.
This required install cameras 360 degrees in each of the five sheep that are part of the project , add an extra battery for recording last longer and a sort of frame made with solar panels to generate backup power.
for the record made by the sheep you can scroll with the mouse panoramic way and appreciate the entire environment through which the animals.
process Andreassen and videos captured by cameras installed in the sheep can be seen in the Youtube channel Visit Faroe Islands, the entity responsible for promoting tourism in the country. The Islands are a small archipelago located in the North Atlantic. It is an autonomous country in the Kingdom of Denmark consists of 18 volcanic islands of which 17 are inhabited.
“It’s like ‘Street view’ but with sheep” Andreassen said in one of his videos. According to calculations throughout the territory of the islands there are about 80,000 sheep, almost twice as many people who total 49,188.
According to the developer of tourism, the most beautiful places Faroe Islands are not accessible by car, so this project is achieving even more than they could have done the mapping service Google.
