ANGELS (California) – Delta Aquarid is a meteor shower that will offer a magical sight for residents of Southern California.
The best time to see these meteors in action is this Thursday and Friday around midnight. Also you can watch just before dawn. For a better view, do not forget to direct your eyes to the south.
Delta Aquarid is not a very big rain but still parading around 20 meteors per hour. The climate favors him these days and also the moon is in its growing phase so its light will not disrupt the function.
According to Sky and Telescope, the Delta Aquarid name comes from a star in the constellation of Aquarius. It is believed that these meteors come from comet 96P / Machholz discovered in 1986.
Meteor showers occur when the planet crosses the orbital path of a comet. Upon entering our atmosphere, the remnants of dust and debris from the comet burn then light up the sky.
Delta Aquarid not be the last galactic experience this summer. Perseids still expected to turn on the nights of 11, 12 and 13 August. This rain promises to show 50 meteors per hour.
