Apple rises to prestigious Jonathan Ive to chief designer – El Nuevo Herald

The innovative Apple designer Jonathan Ive said Tuesday his promotion to executive design director of the company, making it one of the most powerful of the most valued company in the world people.

Ive, whose work in the company he helped conceive iconic Apple products like the iPod, the iPhone and Apple Watch, confirmed the rise in an interview published Tuesday in the Daily Telegraph.

Two other people have been promoted. Richard Howard will become responsible for industrial design and Alan Dye will be responsible for the user interface. Ive oversee both departments.

The designer, a native of northeast London, leads the Apple design team since the mid-1990s and was considered a confidant of the late Steve Jobs.
