Only two companies have applications billion downloads in Google Play store apps: Google and Facebook. This week, Facebook Messenger of the exclusive club comprising six other applications owned by those two firms joined Facebook and WhatsApp (Facebook); and Gmail, YouTube, Search and Maps (on Google).
The strategy of messaging app was improved over time. In the beginning, the application was intended to facilitate communication messages. But today Messenger has video calls, emoticons, voice memos, payments, locations, and complete platform for developers to propose own content. Messenger wants to dominate all forms of communication.
As WhatsApp, was an effective alternative to SMS. Currently, the platform works so much deeper. For example, if you search for a friend on the social network Facebook, positions it “better” in the chat list. Likewise, if a friend’s birthday, encouraged to send congratulations for message instead of writing on their wall.
The secret of Facebook is its way of making money. Instead of filling the application with advertising or incentive to spend money on stickers, tie users to the network, constantly linking the mother messaging platform, where big announcements make their appearance.
