Caracas, June 14, 2015 .- The Philae module sent by the Rosetta spacecraft to the surface of the comet 67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko has reissued signals after spending almost seven months in silence. The European Space Agency have confirmed that have re-established contact with the device.
The Rosetta probe has received a short beep that lasted 40 seconds , reported the France Info radio referring to its sources in the National Center of Space Studies of France.
In this way module gets its activity after a lethargy that was due to the depletion of its battery and its long stay in the shade. That may indicate that the batteries have been reactivated and that the device has been able to withstand climatic and environmental conditions.
In November 2014, the Philae module separated from Rosetta for landing in the comet’s nucleus Churiúmov-Gerasimenko, the first in the history of space exploration. Before entering the unit issued lethargy signals during only three days. / CLAA.
