Chrysler says it solved the problem of software in their cars – Trade

WASHINGTON. Fiat Chrysler (FCA) said today that it has remedied the software vulnerability in some of its vehicles, which had allowed two hackers remotely control their functions.

FCA said the owners of the affected vehicles can download an updated software version are equipped their cars online.

Recently two “hackers”, Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek, revealed that they had managed remotely control some functions of a 2014 Jeep Cherokee and even turn off the engine, raising concerns about the safety of the vehicles of the brand.

The story pirates was released Wednesday by the technology magazine American Wired , which detailed how they could control functions such as air conditioning, radio or the wiper through the system of “infotainment” vehicle.

FCA said today that Valasek and Miller have been working on hacking the Jeep Cherokee from a year ago and have been transmitted to the car company “some aspects of their work.”

“So FCA knows, there has been a single incident in the real world of ‘hack’ illegal or unauthorized in any vehicle FCA remote,” the company said in a blog entry signed by Gualberto Ranieri, vice president of Communications.

FCA added that the vulnerability exploited by Miller and Valasek affects some car models 2013 and 2014 system equipped with 8.4-inch touch screen.

The updated software no vulnerability and can be directly installed by the owners of the vehicles through a USB memory.

The manufacturer said the updated software can also be installed . charge for their auto
