PlayStation, back online after Christmas cyberattack – ElTiempo.com

“The PlayStation Network is back online” blog reported on Catherine Jensen, vice president of Sony consumer experience.

Sony said services Online your game console PlayStation were restored after a cyber attack on Christmas Day that left them out of service, along with its competitor Xbox of Microsoft.

An attack coordinated claimed by a group of hackers calling itself Lizard Squad (Squadron Lizard), left without internet access to the two sites gaming consoles from Sony and Microsoft, one of the most popular Christmas gifts.

“The PlayStation Network and other services online games were attacked during the festivities with artificially high traffic levels designed to interrupt connectivity,” said Jensen in his blog.

Several Twitter users place in the return line connection to the Xbox. The attack that prevented online access to the services of the two consoles began on Thursday after Sony and Microsoft announced their decision to disclose on both platforms the film “The Interview”, a satirical comedy about a CIA plot to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

The study of film and television in November Sony was the target of a cyber attack that stole valuable information and that the FBI blamed on North Korea, to consider that government was opposed to the film’s release. But security experts believed that the attack on services Xbox and PlayStation probably was made by novice hackers seeking to gain recognition.
