“Today we are excited to announce the first phase of preliminary Skype Translator program,” said Gurdeep Pall of Microsoft

“The preliminary program will begin two languages, Spanish and English. Skype Translator opens infinite possibilities for people around the world connect, communicate and collaborate, without the difficulties of geography and language. “

The program was put tested for the first time in Mexico City schoolchildren and their counterparts from a school in Tacoma, in the state of Washington.

“In a classroom the children spoke Spanish and the other spoke English. And Skype Translator removed language barriers and allowed them to communicate,” Pall said.

The software is based on learning, which means that the quality of their translations improves as users flock to this technology.

In May Microsoft announced it was launching what would be a milestone in the voice translation in real time, comparing this software with the “universal translator” that appears in the sci-fi saga “Star Trek”.
