25% of Internet security problems in 2015 – El Universal

25% of Internet users in the European Union (EU) in 2015 suffered problems related to security, reason that led to one-fifth of them to avoid carrying out activities such as buying online or access the digital banking.

This is indicated by recent data released today by the EU statistical office, Eurostat, on the eve of the celebration morning of security Internet.

Eurostat noted that a quarter of European users suffered some kind of security problem last year, as the appearance of virus in their devices, abuse of personal data, loss financial or children accessing “inappropriate websites”.

“in other words, three-quarters (75%) of Internet users do not see any security problems line, “he said Eurostat said in a statement.

Spain was above the European average, with 30% of users who had any of these problems.

Internet users less affected by these complications security are, according to Eurostat, the Czech Republic (10%) and the Netherlands (11%), followed by Slovakia (13%) and Ireland (14%).

At the opposite extreme are Croatia (42%), Hungary (39%), Portugal (36%), Malta (34%) and France (33 %).

Among those internet users who experienced problems related to Internet security in 2015, the most common was to have a virus or other infection on your computer for example, a worm or a Trojan horse -.

of all the countries for which data are available, the proportion affected by the virus were Croatia (41%), Hungary (36%), Portugal ( 33%), France (29%), Bulgaria and Malta (both 28%).

in contrast, less than 10% of Internet users suffered one of these complications in the Netherlands (6%), the Czech Republic (8%) and Slovakia (9%).

Spain is also in this case above the European average (21 %) with 25% of users affected, representing an improvement of 8 points compared to 2010, when this ratio rose to 33%.

the statistical office also said that security problems lead to nearly one in five users avoid shopping online (19%) or use online banking (18%), while 13% preferred not to use your mobile device in a wireless network different from your home to connect to web pages.
