Hackers hijack ‘entire network of a hospital in Hollywood – Puebla online

The computer network of a hospital in California is being attacked by hackers who will not go away until you pay them $ 3.6 million. The hospital has had to move all their patients to other nearby facilities and are said to be using fax to communicate in the absence of e-mail.

The hackers, who have not been identified, have remained sequestered network Hollywood Presbyterian medical Center for over a week and everything from basic computing functions to connected medical devices, have been affected.

the source of ransomware on the network is unknown, but officials have indicated it could have been installed unknowingly by a hospital employee who perhaps opened a malicious link in an e-mail.

a worker of the hospital has been told to keep their systems off-line until otherwise they recommend them and have kept the documentation of patient visits on paper, while networks are under attack. Essential functions such as computed tomography, laboratory analysis, some patient data and the needs of the pharmacy have been affected by the ransomware.

The security breach was discovered last week and effort to right the ship has involved the FBI, the Los Angeles police department and cybersecurity experts. Although the hospital is working with these efforts, it is not clear if the institution plans to pay if the attackers by police are not identified. A deadline to pay was not disclosed to the press.

The ransomware are one of the most notable cyber attacks today, as also they happened in government networks, schools and police departments, and unfortunately efforts to counter their attacks are not entirely effective, so in the end the experts advise people to pay the fee requested
