The AMP initiative, a platform for open source commitment to streamline the burden of news in the smartphone’s browser; is a response to instant articles Facebook
Google today announced the launch of Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP), an open source initiative for improve the web experience on mobile devices that seeks, above all, that the burden is almost instantaneous content on phones and tablets.
Google said AMP aims to ease access to content from the mobile, as it considers the current load time can be “frustrating” for the user or even cause it to leave a page before consuming the content you wish to access.
“We want the web pages with a large amount of content such as videos, animations, graphics, ads …. load instantly and that the same code works on multiple platforms and devices. No matter what type of phone, tablet or device you’re using, “Google said in a statement.
AMP is an initiative concocted to solve this problem and improve the ecosystem of the mobile Web, which has been driven by Google with thirty technology companies and content. Including Twitter, Pinterest, WordPress, chartbeat, Parse.ly, LinkedIn, Adobe, New York Times, The Guardian, Buzzfeed, Vox.com or the Spanish El Pais.
APM is an evolution of language HTML web, also open source, creating lighter versions of web pages and simplifies the technology behind them. Above all, limited content and JavaScript, with it, the amount of information that many digital tracking services can do what readers make on each page. Advertising still work (whether it is provided by Google as services of each site).
The APM format will be compatible with all browsers and web applications. The contents will remain housed in servers responsible for these websites, but Google will offer free their caches to load these pages faster.
Google today released on Github platform technical specifications APM, which will implement all those content managers who want it. These are the first steps of the initiative, as Google reported that the final version will not arrive until 2016.
This move is another indicator of how technology companies are getting involved in content management A stream in which Facebook Instant items also frame, an initiative in which the media directly publish your material in the network rather than on its website, and the IOS 9 which brings Apple News (the application that the company wants to centralize the consumption of news content) and at the same time, blocking content on mobile sites (advertising and tracking of visitors); the alternative proposed by Google and its partners seem, a priori, more open than Facebook or Apple, because it is an open platform, and each medium can control where the content is hosted, manage ads and so on.
