Google wants fans to help baptize Android N – CNET in Spanish

Last December, during a trip back to India, Sundar Pichai joked that the name of the next version of Android would be decided in a vote online .

Google CEO said at the time that 1,300 million people in the country could choose an Indian dessert to baptize the latest update of the world’s most popular mobile operating system.

Pichai, 43, kept his promise.

During the developer conference I / O on Wednesday, Google made the official competition. The meaning of the “N” in Android N, as it is called now, depends on you. (And that seems appropriate because the N is the variable in equations that stand out for the unknown). You can submit ideas for names on this link.

Google did not say when the new name is chosen. And although it is a contest, there will be a winner or specific prize for those who will ultimately decide the name.

Who will decide the name of the next flavor of Android?

Google demoed Android N at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain view, California, in front of about 7,000 developers. the new features include a split-screen view that lets you run more than one application at the same time. you’re also going able to respond to text messages directly from a notification, rather than having to stop what you’re doing to go to the application text messages

for the uninitiated -. and for all iPhone users – there are two things that must be met to name the new flavor of Android first, it has to proceed in alphabetical order of the latest version.. Second, it has to be a candy or dessert. For example, “K” was to KitKat (circa 2013), “L” was for Lollipop 2014, and “M” is for Marshmallow, Android version launched in October.

“Basically, if is sweet and tasty, I like, “he said the head of Android, Hiroshi Lockheimer, in an interview about the latest features of Android N. (Lockheimer, incidentally, is the reason why K became KitKat, its bar favorite chocolate).

So do attempt to worst, Internet. I bet you will Nutella, although some of my colleagues who are fans of Harry Potter are in favor of Nosebleed Nougat.
