The tool will allow people to ask for and offer food, shelter and transportation after a disaster
MEXICO CITY (08/FEB/2017).- The social network Facebook added a new tool to its platform, crisis response Safety Check, which from now on will also enable people to ask for and offer food, shelter and transport.
Safety Check is a simple way to communicate with friends and family after a crisis or a natural disaster, which allows people to notify that they are safe.
The new tool called Community Help, broadens the scope of Safety Check, which allows people to help each other and in a direct way.
How does it work?
once Safety Check is activated after a crisis or natural disaster, the people will begin to see the tool of Community Help.
Community Help will allow people to offer or provide help, in addition to communicate with others by using Safety Check.
The publications may be viewed by category or place, making it easier to search the help.
Community Help will be available after incidents such as earthquakes or fires. We will begin to test the tool in Saudi Arabia, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand and the united States, to understand how people use the Community Help, and as well to extend it later to other countries and other types of incidents.
To get started, Community Help will be available for incidents, natural or any as an earthquake or a fire in a building.
During the first week, users in countries such as the united States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India and Saudi Arabia will be able to use the new tool. However, as we learn more about how people use the product, we will seek to improve it and make it available for all countries, including the different types of accidents that may occur.
on the other hand, for users to use Community Help after an incident, they must first activate the tool, Safety Check that you already know. However, for this to be enabled it is necessary for two things to happen:
first, the global agencies of reports of crises, such as iJET International and NC4 alert Facebook of an incident has occurred and give it a title. After that, we began to monitor the messages on the incident in the area.
In the second place, if many people are talking about the incident, they themselves can be marked safe, and inviting other users to do the same.
