The verification in two steps, came to the beta version of WhatsApp in November of last year, but it is today when it has finally come to all users. Enable it is very easy, and it gives us an extra layer of security against the possibility that someone wants to read our messages.
What does the double check is to add a second key input. Until now, WhatsApp is associated with a phone number asking us a code that they, themselves, send to us by SMS or through a call. If someone duplicates the SIM or with our mobile is unlocked you can install the application in another mobile and activate it by receiving a new SMS. Double check adds a six-digit code that you have to choose each user.
Each time that we install WhatsApp again it will ask us that code. Also ask from time to time for greater security. It is a little hassle to have to put it every time, but it is also much more secure as well.
To activate the double check, just follow the following steps:
- Open WhatsApp and enter in Configuration
- Enter in the menu Account and select two-step Verification
- Selecccionar Activate
The menu we will guide. We have to choose a number of six figures and also provide an email address to retrieve it in case we forget. This last is not mandatory, but highly recommended because you can leave lying around if it is a new activation, and we have not received the code by SMS.
The function will arrive today (10 February) gradually to all users. If you still don’t see it on your phone and wait a while and upgrade the application when you see that it is available the new version in the store for your operating system. Obviously it’s free. If you have not activated anything and you get an email on the subject, do not trust it. [via WhatsApp]
