New finding suggests the arrival of modern humans in Europe – Trade

A dental remains found in Italy show that modern humans were responsible for culture proto-Aurignacian , about 42,000 years ago, whose artifacts are linked to the arrival of “ Homo sapiens ” to Western Europe, according to a study published in the journal Science.

This finding helps resolve the debate over which group was the origin of this culture, which coincided with the end of the Neanderthal in the southwest and south-central Europe.

The researchers were not sure if culture proto-Aurignacian known for its simple ornaments, had emerged from the modern humans or was an evolution of the Neanderthal in the south of France.

The team led by Stefano Benazzi, doctor of anthropology at the University of Vienna (Austria), analyzed incisors found in two places in Italy and confronted with enamel from fossil records 41,000 years ago.

Later, compared one teeth containing mitochondrial DNA to find matches with the modern humans , ancient humans, Neanderthal , the Denisova hominid in Asia, another hominid and a chimpanzee Spain.

As a result, researchers confirmed that the teeth proto-auriñacenses Aurignacian were related to archeology, and since Neanderthal disappeared from Western Europe ago about 39,260 million years, Benazzi suggested that the arrival of the first would have caused the decline of the latter.

The Aurignacian culture replaced 38,000 years ago, in southwestern Europe, the Mousterian culture in the Upper Paleolithic start .
