Etecsa will enable wifi on Malecón habanero – Granma International

The Telecommunications Company of Cuba (ETECSA) will be provided with Wifi technology for Internet browsing, the avenue of the Malecon, from the Prado to the entrance of the tunnel of 5th Avenue, in this city.

Eudes Monier Núñez, head of the Department of Marketing and Communication of the Territorial Division of ETECSA, informed that already identified the places where to place the wireless access points, as well as the technical equipment for the service.

he Explained that the beginning of the performance will depend on the development of the assembly, that will be complex due to the extension of the promenade most famous of Cuba.

On the decision to take the Wifi service to this area, Monier Núñez stated that it took into account the influx of people, mainly young people, who make extensive use of the Internet.

According to the head of the department of Marketing and Communication of the Territorial Division of ETECSA, the 30 Wifi zones that should be open in 2016, already have 17 installed, and the rest will be available when provided with the necessary equipment.

Iris Duran, communicator of the entity, asserted that since all municipalities have at least a Wi-fi zone and some territories, in dependence of their geographical extension and population density, have up to five lit areas.

Of the total number of access points created this year, six began to provide services on Saturday the 17th of September in the parks of 51 and 76, Marianao; of Guanabo, located on calle 5ta between 474 and 476; the Martyrs of the’jata it, of Guanabacoa; the Pizarro, of Arroyo Naranjo, the Monterrey, San Miguel del Padrón; and the Palatine, The Hill, explained Duran.

Monier Núñez stated that coupled with the opening of the public areas of access to the network of networks, enhance the navigation in 12 Young Club of Computation and Electronics, with four positions each, 33 spaces in Cuba Post, and 18 rooms of ETECSA.

In 2015, ETECSA opened 17 areas of navigation of the Internet with Wifi technology in public spaces of Havana, with the aim of extending the use of new technologies in the country and respond to the strategy of cuban bulk access, and secure cyberspace.
