SPAIN: PlayStation VR and VR – EntornoInteligente

SPAIN: PlayStation VR and VR / Mundogamers / Although I could mention many defects and failures that had this latest edition of the Madrid Games Week, I’ll leave it for another day (ie, tomorrow) and I will talk exclusively of the star who has starred in the show: PlayStation VR. Although his name was cool Project Morpheus more, have to get used to this “more commercial” and less original name. The virtual reality goggles designed for PlayStation have been the key brand stand at IFEMA. For these attendees they have made appointments and expected tails, making them the centerpiece. Taking this opportunity, I spoke with Cristina Infante, PlayStation, and drew my own conclusions from all this. Conclusions proceed to detail, of course.

First, we discuss the concept of the glasses itself as merely supercicial. Well, we have no choice but to compare with Oculus Rift VR PlayStation. We could say that VR is the posh cousin Oculus Rift, since its design looks like something out of a notice of Neutrex Futura. You could say that is a less primitive cousin, more stylish, more … one city. However, VR is missing something that does have Oculus: Integrated headphones. It seems silly, but it’s not because something as simple as that could make us spend more money in one than in another. But the price I will speak last.

What really served (pun intended) virtual reality? That is, it is a breakthrough in technology and in the industry of video games, to break the boundaries of the screen and get into a game in its entirety. So far, PlayStation VR is a unique, amazing, unique experience (in case you only have the chance to try it for free and do not buy it, of course), lets you immerse yourself in a different world and forget that if you keep walking you go to give to the TV. I have come to see a guy trying to leave the command on a table that only he could see, did not exist in reality. At that point comes the virtual reality, but what else?

What we have seen in the Madrid Games Week leads us to a conclusion. At least, to me it leads me: Virtual reality is fine, but it seems an experience with limited time. In my case, I tried the demo of Valkyrie, a set of spacecraft to get to vertigo when one is immersed in the vastness of space. And, of course, this is good for ten or fifteen minutes, but what about the games “real” games that have ?, forty hours or fifty. Or more! Can you imagine one The Witcher played with virtual reality? Do we cansaríamos Geralt before the bill? It is very probable.

There’s something that does make me break a lance for PlayStation VR: The opportunities open to developers. Yes, you might get a game for more than ten minutes really worth, it must be broken much head. But VR can be a great tool for creating, only you need to be in the right hands.

Finally, resources. The price of VR may be greater than what they say stores. No, I do not mean to potential four euro that may cost up to the granny glasses, but all that goes home a console mounted virtual reality. We are facing something that can vaguely remind all those games and Wii exercise and move without stopping. PlayStation Move PlayStation VR we need dusting or using the remote at best. For Move, it will have to move, as its name suggests, beyond stop turning your head to look around. Here we enter the possibility that the player does not like to move, so negative for VR.

However, in the case where moving is not an impediment, we enter the following resource: space. No, not in space Valkyrie (in addition to that game we need only command), but in the space that we have in our lounge / room enabled for the console to be able to move freely without pulling anything path. This, plus the outrageous price possible and output can have VR, leaving little room to our pockets. It seems that virtual reality will be a treat level of a few. Or a cyber, I could come back into fashion if you fill in this style machines.
