Buy on Amazon from your car, the next bet for Ford with SYNC – Hypertext

Amazon wants to reach out to all those points where a user can purchase any product or service, and even to those in which it seems counterproductive this action. Amazon, along with Ford, are preparing the arrival of the Alexa to the vehicles of the brand from the blue oval, a movement which continues in the line of the bet Ford encourage the use of voice to control the functions of the car.

The integration with Alexa, the most extensive to date in a vehicle, allows users to Ford to play audiobooks, to place orders in Amazon, search and enter locations that are local to the navigation system, in-car, and much more. From home, the owners of Ford vehicles electric will be able to turn on or turn off the engine, open and close doors, or to obtain information of the vehicle by using voice commands.

Ford will display its integration with Alexa in two phase. The first, which is available at the end of this month, connects you with your car from the comfort of your home through devices such as the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, and Amazon Tap. The second, which is expected to be available this summer, will allow to use a wide variety of functions from Alexa by using your voice while driving, helping you to keep your eyes on the road and hands on the steering wheel. And that is that we will be faced with two possibilities:

Alexa in your car

starting this summer, drivers of Ford vehicles with SYNC 3 will be able to ask Alexa to read the weather reports, play music, add items to shopping lists and much more, all from your car. For example, you might ask Alexa to add milk or batteries to your shopping list without the need to point it with a pen.

Ford has been testing this functionality with employees.

This functionality is in-car a pioneer in the sector it works thanks to the Ford SYNC 3′s AppLink. Only requires drivers to press the button for voice recognition on the steering wheel, that you say "Alexa" followed by a question or command.

Inside the vehicle, drivers can ask Alexa to locate a desired location. Alexa will use the location of the vehicle to find the shops nearby. For example, the user could say "Alexa, find the Italian restaurant nearest". Once the driver selects the desired destination, Alexa can transfer the address to the navigation system, SYNC 3. Users can also access many devices from smart home Alexa to control lighting, security systems, thermostats, and much more, all from the vehicle.

Alexa in your house

The owners of Ford Focus Electric, Fusion Energi and C-MAX Energi will be the first in order to access the functionality home-play through mobile technology MyFord Mobile. Through Alexa, users of plug-in electric vehicles can easily control your vehicle from home using Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, or Amazon Tap. Talking to Alexa to through one of those devices, will be able to:

  • turn on or Turn off the engine
  • Lock or unlock the doors
  • Verify the autonomy and the state of charge
  • Find out the levels of fuel
  • Get a summary of mileage

At home, interactions with Alexa may include:

  • User: "Alexa, ask MyFord Mobile that lock my car," Alexa: "Sending order of locking to your car,"
  • User: "Alexa, ask MyFord Mobile that boot my car." Alexa: "Sending boot order to your car,"
  • User: "Alexa, ask MyFord Mobile my autonomy." Alexa: "Your vehicle has a load of 83 percent. Its electric range is 17 miles, its autonomy fuel is 216 miles and total autonomy is 233 miles".

the voice is The future for Ford and above all it is the future in a sector such as the automotive industry, which increasingly incorporate more and more functions that should not be dirty the work of the driver with distractions, and the voice, it seems to be the only element that could command these new functions.
