Short delays restart of the Large Hadron Collider – Prensa Latina

March 25, 2015, 14:23 Geneva, Mar 25 (Prensa Latina) The Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the largest particle accelerator in the world, delayed today its reset intermittent shorting of one of the magnets sector 3-4.

According to the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) the failure occurred last Saturday and affects sending protons around the collider.

The proton beams should start circulation Wednesday, after two years in detention, although collisions were not provided until late May or early June.

Such shocks in the accelerator tunnel 27 kilometers in circumference on the French-Swiss border, will occur at temperatures near absolute zero and 13 tera (TeV), twice as much energy as in the first stage.

This period should last for the next three years until 2018, said CERN’s discovery of the Higgs boson, in 2012, It is so far the largest contribution of GCH, for then confirmed the standard model in which particle physics is based.

Another line of research is antimatter, which in theory is an exact replica of matter but negatively charged
