Google will pay those who encounter problems in Android – Diario El País

Google announced a new program that will allow users to receive money in exchange for reporting security flaws in the Android operating system.

Through Android Security Awards Program, Google promises to offer rewards of up to $ 2,000 to researchers who find bugs in Android. The company said the number could multiply if the user provides evidence and a security patch

People who find basic problems, will receive a reward of $ 500.; users to report faults with a higher level of gravity receive $ 1,000; and finally, proving critical bugs in the operating system, will have a fee of $ 2,000.

Google said it will be rewarded only the first report of a specific error. That is, if someone finds a flaw that has already been reported previously, did not receive remuneration. In addition, the company clarified that reward errors that have to do with attacks phishing cases blocking or applications, among others.

If the user is not interested in receiving the money or not the claim after 12 months, Google will donate the prize to a charity of your choice.

In addition, the company said it will protect the identity of the winners, if they wish. Thus, they credited error reporting as anonymous and remove any identifying information.
