Rosetta probe establishes a second contact with the Philae module – ABC Color

PARIS. Rosetta established a second contact with the Philae module, this weekend showed signs of regaining its activity after a slumber of nearly seven months.

So the president of the French National Centre for Space Studies (CNES) said, Jean-Yves Le Gall .

This new signal held Monday at 05:30 GMT (1:30 hour Paraguay) said on France 2 chain, where he said the Philae, which last November 12 landed on the surface of the comet 67P / Churyumov -Gerasimenko, “is fully awake.”

The module according to Le Gall, one realizes that the comet is in “full swing”, with expulsions of gas and dust into space.

Philae is 320 million kilometers from Earth, and though its waves take 17 minutes to arrive, the CNES representative confirmed that “responsive” and that will enrich “our knowledge of the origins of life” in our planet.

In recent weeks, the Rosetta mission scientists had predicted that the module could wake up in June, as the comet come closer to the Sun and the solar batteries that power had to Philae a chance to recharge.
