A new image has been leaked on the networks, making reference to a feature that few can imagine could be included in the next Samsung Galaxy S8 -the image comes from a presentation of Samsung Galaxy S8. As you can see in the screenshot above, it is described the possibility of using our Galaxy S8 as a complete workstation with multitasking and the support for peripherals such as keyboard and mouse to be connected to a monitor; in other words a function that will let us use the Galaxy S8 as a computer.
This function, of course, we’ve heard it before in smartphones, Microsoft implemented a technology called Continuum. The Microsoft technology is touted as one that allows you to use our smartphone as a PC is concerned, and this is precisely what Samsung describes its image.
To make an approach to the example in the capture filtered, we see a Android operating system with an interface similar to the one that we’ve seen in other distributions of Android for the desktop as RemixOS.
A big difference between Microsoft Continuum and that "proposes" the capture of Samsung, it is that Continuum uses a 'dock' or base for connecting peripherals. This base is in fact required even though our peripherals are wireless. On the contrary, in the capture we can see that the solution of Samsung requires only connect the monitor to the mobile, we assume using the USB port Type-C and a converter to HDMI, and peripherals can be used wirelessly, probably via Bluetooth.
In your implementation, all you might ask what range of smartphones will be compatible?. Taking the example of Microsoft Continuum as a starting point, only the range smartphones higher are supported as this feature also involves specific hardware to be used.
In the case of Samsung your highest range would be the Galaxy S8, next to be launched at a special event April, and this would be who deploy for the first time, the new function of Samsung. If you ask me, I am sure that this function, despite being based on Android, it will remain exclusive to Samsung. Just like Microsoft did, will depend on a specific hardware to work.
