A nebula captured from Ibiza, Day image NASA / News 24 / NASA has awarded today with the Astronomy Picture of distinction Day (APOD) to photography that has captured the celescopio located in Cala d’Hort, Ibiza, as reported by the Astronomical Association of Ibiza. This is an image of the reflection nebula known as NGC1333 in the constellation Perseus, about 766 light years away in the Milky Way.

blue tones predominate characteristics of the reflected light of the stars in the interstellar dust. It is on the edge of a large molecular cloud where stars are formed.

The striking image shows details of the region of dust filled with small touches of red from Herbig-Haro objects and gases emanating from bright stars that have recently formed.

The NGC 1333 contains hundreds of stars that are less than a million years, most of them hidden behind dust, which can not be seen with optical telescopes. It is possible that the Sun was formed 4,500 million years ago in an environment like this.
