Hangzhou Xiongma ies a small Chinese company dedicated to the manufacturing of DVD players connected and IP cameras. The signature just admit that it has played a role in unintended, but instrumental in the massive attack that struck the Internet last Friday, the 21st.
Responsible Hangzhou Xiongmai have recognized that the malware known as Mirai took advantage of the connection of their devices to launch the denial of service attack that they threw down the servers of the DNS provider Dyn. Apparently, the authors of the attack were using the low security of the default passwords of the devices to gain control of their connections.
