in view of the criticisms received this week by the new privacy policies, Evernote says that it will still be able to read the notes from the users, but these will decide whether to give permission — or not.
“trust is at the heart of our service”, explains Chris O’neill, ceo of Evernote in the press release. “That means that we need to be transparent, admit our mistakes and commit ourselves to making Evernote the best experience”.
O’neill says that after receiving feedback from users, the announced changes to the privacy policy will not come into effect and the company will issue another press release making known the new changes to the policies.
What is a fact is that users now have the power. O’neill says that the employees themselves will be able to read the notes from the users, but only if the users accept it. Evernote wants to read the notes and files stored as part of its project to implement the use of artificial intelligence and improve the service.
The technology of artificial intelligence will be part of Evernote, but only for those users accept that their content is visible to employees of Evernote. “We will invite users of Evernote to help us build a better product when you join this program,” says the executive.
The privacy policies informing users that Evernote could read your notes, whether they wanted to or not, they were going to take effect on 23 January 2017.
“we’re excited about what we can offer to our customers thanks to the learning machine, but we have to ask for permission, don’t assume that what we have,” adds O’neill.
The language of O’neill in this release is completely different to the first release. In the previous, the company said it was mandatory to be part of this program. Even, the company said that you do not want the employees to read the notes, there was no other solution but to leave the service.
