He died the father of artificial intelligence, inspiration of “2001″ and “Jurassic Park” – La Voz del Interior

Marvin Minsky, the mathematician who in 1956 paved the way for artificial intelligence, died Sunday in Boston at age 88. His work changed forever the development of computers and technologies today move slowly toward building machines with common sense.

In the middle of last century, and doctorate in mathematics, he was one of four founders of the field of artificial intelligence in a mythical conference held at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. With him were John McCarthy of Stanford University and Herbert Simon and Allen Newell, both of Carnegie Mellon. Minsky is the only one left alive.

In 1959, the mathematician created the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he developed most of his career.

it was not science fiction alien, since in 1968, Stanley Kubrick came calling to advise him on his film 2001: A Space Odyssey , in which the mythical computer HAL revolts against his human creators. Minsky, who was crushed to death by machinery during filming, was always a staunch defender of science fiction to explain the complexities of the investigation.

In an interview with the Spanish daily El País in the summer of 2014, Minsky recalled another of his contributions, when inspired argument Jurassic Park Michael Crichton. “Were mere five-minute conversation on the beach in Santa Monica. Enough to talk about fossils and dinosaurs cells,” explained then.

One of his major contributions to the philosophy and thinking behind the It argues that artificial intelligence was essentially no difference between human intelligence and robotics. Thus, deeper understanding of the brain help develop increasingly intelligent machines might do everything that people do.
