Russian Hackers and chinese were awarded the largest cyber attack in the last decade – Newspaper Socket

the united States.- The members of the collective of hackers New World Hackers, distributed in China and Russia, claimed responsibility for the attack on the internet service provider Dyn.

through a Twitter message, explained that organized networks of computers “zombies” that they released at the same time the staggering figure of 1.2 terabits of data per second to servers managed by Dyn, a firm that offers service in the U.S. to companies of great influence, such as Twitter, Spotify and media as CNN, Infobae, and The New York Times.

“we did Not do this to attract to the federal agents, only to test our power,” stated two members of the group of hackers, who identified themselves as “Prophet” and “Zain”, a reporter of the news agency AP. They pointed out that more than 10 hackers participated in the attack.

The White House spokesman, Josh Earnest, confirmed that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is “monitoring the situation” and goes to investigate in depth this hack, which he described as “malicious”.

on the other hand, although researchers security experts were quick to put it in doubt, followers of WikiLeaks are also attributed the attack: the group Anonymous said it was behind the “power outage”, indicating that it did in response to the decision of the government of Ecuador, to cut off the internet access to Jualian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks.

The officers of Dyn said they did not know who was behind the attacks, nor if they had been orchestrated by a group backed by a State or if you were simply activists online. They said they have not received any message of attribution, but they are working with the FBI.

The collective @NewWorldHacking has claimed in the past responsibility for similar attacks against websites such as ESPNFantasySports in September and the BBC on the 31st of December. It has even been attributed the authorship of cyber attacks against the Islamic State.

In conversation with AP, “” Prophet,” and “Zain” they said that about 30 people have access to the Twitter account @NewWorkdHacking. They said that 20 they are in Russia and 10 in China. Both said they are doing “good deeds”.

Another member of the collective that spoke with the AP, which has been identified as “Ownz” and claimed to be 19 years old and living in London, said that the group –or at least he– he sought for it with this attack to expose the vulnerabilities of online security.

During the attack against the website of ESPN, he was asked to “Ownz” if the collective made a request to the site attacked, such as demanding money. “Yes, we’re going to make a real demand. Ensure your web sites and get better servers, otherwise it will be attacked again”, he replied.

The action against Dyn, the largest cyber attack in 10 years, comes after the government of Barack Obama would report directly to Russia to steal information to US in order to influence the November 8 election.

The indictment suggests that the Kremlin has stolen information on the campaign of Hillary Clinton that after he has gone to the WikiLeaks organization with the intention of favoring the republican Donald Trump, whose political line and statements are very favorable to Moscow. It is for this reason that, before this new cyber attack, the sights of Washington continues to put on the Russian government.
