ExoMars: No one knows what happened with the new explorer, which arrived at Mars – Publimetro Chile

A new mission designed to reveal the mysteries of Mars, is lost in space. Such as when it is read. The robot explorer mission ExoMars, coordinated by European Space Agency (ESA, for its acronym in English), it has not given "signs of life" and is of concern to researchers.

Yesterday, the lander, called Schiaparelli dropped on the surface of the Planet Red. This fact was widely held by researchers of the THIS and the Russian space agency Roscosmos.

But the smile fades out little by little. The signal module is lost shortly before it hit the surface of Mars.

Schiaparelli is a vital part of the project ExoMars.

Now, several satellites have been trying to analyze what happened with the probe; although have not been successful. One of the main fears is that it has been destroyed from falling down abruptly on the martian surface.

The Mars mission was a success

despite the fact that the lander, Schiaparelli is missing on Mars, the researchers qualify this as a success.

"at The same time that Schiaparelli was a descendant, was performing an important maneuver for orbit insertion of Mars; which he completed successfully," reports THAT in a statement.

"The role of Schiaparelli was to test technologies of landing in europe. The registry data during the descent was part of it, and it is important that we learn what happened; in order to prepare for the future," said Jan Wörner, director general of ESA

In the next few days, ESA and Roscosmos will continue trying to contact the robot lost in Mars; before the conclusion of the investigation.

In the year 2003, THAT already suffered a blow similar: the failure of the mission Beagle 2.

however, this mission was only a test for the project "ExoMars 2020", whose aim is to put in the martian soil a browser as the Curiosity, sent by NASA.
