Beijing, 30/04/2015 (The People’s Daily Online) – They just found in China a dinosaur the size of a dove, with feathers and wings membrane. It has been called Yi qi. Most striking is that it presents an element of the skeleton so far never seen in other dinosaurs and could shed some light on the family tree of birds. This is a wrist structure reminiscent of living bats and could be involved in the flight.

This new feathered species was found in Hebei Province, in northeast China, in sediments dating back 160 million years ago. It belongs to a group of small carnivorous theropod dinosaurs manirraptores, winged and small size, of which little is known: the escansoriopterígidos. In fact, only three specimens have been found of this species and are incomplete.
