New information on the invisible dark matter is now visible on the net.
Apparently, the first in a series of maps that provide interesting details about the invisible mass of the cosmos has been created, reported Sci-News.com. Researchers were able to create through the use of data from the House of Dark Energy (DEC), the instrument main image for Probing Dark Energy (DES).
According to the source, the new map was created by Vinu Vikram Argonne National Laboratory and his team. Vikram said, “We measure the just-noticeable distortions in the shapes of nearly 2 million galaxies to build these new maps.”
For those who do not know, “dark matter” is known as the invisible web that keeps galaxies together, described the BBC. The concept presents interesting questions that could eventually provide direction to solve the most amazing phenomena of the universe.
As mentioned the BBC, the map of dark matter covers 1/8 of the sky. The latest look covers only 0.4%.
Meanwhile, a study by Durham University revealed that dark matter interacts with universal forces besides gravity, wrote the Empire State Tribune. According to the source, the dark matter bends light around galaxies, which results in a “gravitational lensing” or creating rings starlight.
As a result, scientists from Durham they observed an unusual curvature in one of the rings. This suggests a misalignment of a group of dark matter in their respective galaxy.
Therefore, scientists think that something else might influence the invisible mass.
