Soon they will buy Apple Watch in the same way that other clocks are acquired: in a store. In addition it will start selling in more countries, including Mexico.
Two months after Apple began taking orders online its latest product, the company said Thursday it plans to start selling some models its retail stores in two weeks. Apple also said it is catching up on the backlog in their orders online and most of the watches ordered in late May will be sent in the next two weeks.
Apple also said it will begin selling the clock in more countries later this month, adding Italy, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland and Taiwan to the list.
The SmartWatch has been on display at Apple stores in the US and eight other countries, where customers can view and try them on. But they could not buy one or out of the store. Apple said that this was due to limited stocks.
The debate on the exact number of watches sold Apple is maintained. The company’s Cupertino, California, has not released its sales figures, causing some industry analysts speculate that demand was lower than expected. Others point to reports of manufacturing problems in Asia as evidence that the stocks were limited unexpectedly.
“The response to Apple Watch has exceeded our expectations in every way,” said Apple vice president Jeff Williams said in a statement on Thursday, without elaborating.
