The NASA began an experiment to test how would human life on Mars. Therefore it isolated the six volunteers for a year, live in a dome built near a volcano in Hawaii.
A French astrobiologist, a German physicist and four Americans: a journalist, a soil scientist, a pilot and an architect are part of this experience. Sophie Milam, Joceyln Dunn, Zak Wilson, Allen Mirkadyrov, Martha Lenio and Neil Scheibelhut live for a year without privacy, without air and sunlight.
Each has a sleeping cot, a desk and a supply of non-perishable canned and powdered foods.
The exterior is a dome 11 meters in diameter and six high, which may only access spacesuit.
