Madrid, Aug 12 (EFE) .- Twitter today expanded the limit for direct messages from 140 to 10,000 characters to boost private conversations between users, the company said.
Although extension limit of 140 characters is one of the hallmarks of the service, Twitter wants to encourage public conversations over into the private sphere within its platform and prevent the user from having to divide his speech into text messages.
From today, the new private messages limit is 10,000 characters, and the change is implemented in iOS and Android applications, Twitter.com, TweetDeck and Twitter for Mac.
The technology has clarified that this expanded space of private messages does not affect the tweets, which will remain a maximum of 140 characters.
In recent months, Twitter has introduced several changes in the direct messages, the possibility of sending to groups of users or the option to have a private conversation with a tweeter without it follows you.
Movement with which it intends to remain in the conversation and not migrate to Twitter other courier services. EFE
