Twitter eliminates 336 jobs, or 8% of its total workforce – FORTUNE

MEXICO CITY (CNNExpansión) –

The US social networking site Twitter on Tuesday announced the elimination of 336 jobs, 8% of its total workforce, in as part of a restructuring plan to save.

“The restructuring is part of an overall plan to reorganize the company in terms of its primary products and drive yields throughout the company,” Twitter said in a securities document.

These cuts, announced after confirmation as CEO co-founder Jack Dorsey, will cost up to $ 20 million due to severance costs, the company said.

Meanwhile, the restructuring costs will be between five and 15 million.

“We reorganized our troops in order to lead our company into the path of solid growth,” Dorsey said in a letter to employees and document attached to the stock.

The plans were released last week by the specialist Re / code technology website, citing sources week.

Twitter employs about 4,100 people in over 35 offices worldwide, according to its website.
