Long live the Nexus one: so are the new Google Pixel and Pixel XL – Hypertext

The Nexus family is dead. As the rumors prior were pointing, Google has finished with the historic family of mobile devices to replace, in its place, with a new brand called Pixel (used by Google in other product categories). So, the new devices flagship Google went on to be called a Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL.

In the interior of both devices, such as Carphone Warehouse, Tellus and Bell have been leaked, we find a hardware identical, unlike the Nexus 5, and Nexus 6S. Specifically, the company has built a SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 and 4 GB of RAM, a duo already present in other phones peers, and has proven to be really solvent in all kinds of situations.

In the photographic aspect, both devices will opt for a rear-facing camera 12.3 megapixel with a focal aperture f/2.0, a size of 155µm and optical image stabilization. In the previous area, the sensor is an eight megapixel camera.

Both devices come with a hardware exquisite and the latest version of Android. A safe bet, at least on paper.

The only differences between both models are found in the capabilities of the battery and on the screens. The Pixel count with a panel of 5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, and a battery of 2.770 mAh capacity. His older brother, the Pixel XL opt for a screen of 5.5-inch 2K, and a battery of 3.450 mAh capacity.

As could not be otherwise —considering the bet by Google in previous generations— both models come with USB Type-C, fingerprint reader on the back, an NFC chip and the latest version of the operating system (Android 7.1 Nougat). They will also come in two variants: white and black.

The official presentation of both devices will occur on the fourth of October, in an event in New York that the company would reveal new products in other categories (Chromecast, Google Home, etc).
