After the investigation by the regulator to German and the previous questions raised by the regulator of data protection from the Uk, now is the Spanish Agency for Data Protection which has opened an investigation to WhatsApp for its new privacy policy, data synchronization between Facebook and the messaging service and the use of such data, such as have been echoed in the EFE Future.

In this way, the AEPD has started prior actions of research in the same sense that the rest of european regulators: check if the transactions and synchronizations of data between Facebook and the messaging service comply with the internal regulations of Spanish in the field of data protection and user privacy, especially in what refers to the transfer of important data of the user, such as a phone number.

To conform to WhatsApp and Facebook the same company after the purchase of the first by the second, and although initially denied by the CEO of WhatsApp, both companies put in place plans to, little by little, go by unifying the data users within the same umbrella of Facebook, but remain as brands and independent services.

at the time, and as the case of the Uk and Germany, will have to wait until reports preliminary of the AEPD, but it seems that the news of the data-sharing did not sit very well to the european regulators.
