A letter Apple sent to the US authorities confirms, for the first time, that for some time it is an open secret: the company is working on a project related to vehicles, and although until now much has been said of a supposed electric car Project Titan, everything seems to indicate that reports on technology for cars self-employed workers are certain after all.

The letter sent to the National Administration of Highway Traffic Safety of the USA (NHTSA for its acronym in English) in November ensures that the company “is investing heavily in the study of machine learning and automation” in many areas, “including transport”.

This is the confirmation more closely than has been obtained up to now about jobs in automotive or autonomous vehicles, especially taking in mind that Apple has declined to confirm the stories related to Project Titan.

This report could align with others who claim that Apple would have removed the possibility of making your own vehicle, and instead is working on designing the brain necessary to start up a car with technology-autonomous.

When you have been asked to responses to Apple, the company has only said: there are many potential applications for these technologies, including the future of transport, so that we want to work with the NHTSA to help define best practices for the industry.”

Companies like Google have years working with these autonomous vehicles, although it is not clear if the company will launch it as a product or if you sell the software created to a third party. Tesla is releasing software that their cars have auto-pilot total a day, and Baidu just made the first tests of their vehicles in China, making it clear that the automotive future will be to carry passengers to any place, even without drivers.
