“MalariaSpot” the game to diagnose malaria virus – Angulo7

Researchers at the University Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) developed “MalariaSpot” , a game with which doctors and anyone can detect malaria virus in minutes; real patient samples are used.

This is a game where, instead of ending Martians , planes or anything else, the goal is to find the parasites that cause the disease, thus know whether the patient does not have this virus in your body, since it is samples people with symptoms.

It may also be collective.
The first test was performed on the Health Research Centre in Manhiça Mozambique , in collaboration with the Institute for Global Health of Barcelona. From there, using a mobile phone attached to a microscope, the researchers photographed samples patients with symptoms of malaria.

Despite the success that the application is taking, Miguel Luengo Oroz, responsible for “MalariaSpot” researcher, told various media sponsors who support the cause are needed, as it plans to develop similar applications for treat diseases such as tuberculosis.
