NASA discovered a vast plain in the heart of Pluto – La Voz del Interior

A series of data provided by the New Horizons spacecraft of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) reveal a vast plain on the planet Pluto, as reported.

“This frozen region is north of the icy Pluto mountains,” said NASA, which said details of the plains and craters were observed from a new image of the planet.

” This land is not easy to explain, “said Jeff Moore, of Geology, Geophysics and Imaging Equipment (GGI) Ames Research Center of NASA in Moffett Field, California.

“This fascinating region -parecidas icy plains to frozen mud cracks in the Earth has been informally named ‘Sputnik plain’ after the first artificial satellite of the Earth,” said NASA .

“He has a broken surface segments irregularly shaped, about 12 miles (20 kilometers) wide, bordered by what appear to be shallow channels,” he added.

“Some of these channels have darker material within them, while others are drawn by groups of hills that seem to rise above the surrounding terrain,” he said.

The Nasa He said, moreover, that the area “seems to be recorded by fields of small holes that may have formed through a process called sublimation, which turns ice directly from solid to gas, such as dry ice does on Earth.”
