Tonight will be a “Blue Moon”, which happens every three years – RPP News

On Friday, last day of July can be seen in the sky a “blue moon” , which occurs approximately every three years and that will not happen again until January 2018.

As noted by the Naval Observatory US on its website,

called “Blue Moon” the second full moon in a calendar month , July in this case.

Each lunar cycle lasts approximately 28 days, so when a full moon occurs at the beginning of the month it is likely to be a second at the end.

That’s what will happen this July, which had its first full moon Day 2 and will have a second, “Blue”, on Friday 31st.

“Blue Moon” is called but not be that color, but in shades of gray, white or silver , which is normally seen in the satellite.

According to experts, the moon has been dyed blue rarely, the effect of dust, ash and smoke into the atmosphere because of large volcanic eruptions or forest fires.

The last “blue moon” occurred on August 31, 2012 and for the next after this Friday, it will be necessary wait until January 2018.
