How wore the cavemen? – The universal

Two decades ago, a couple of tourists discovered a Mummy 5000 300 years old, preserved in a glacier in the Alps on the border between Austria and Italy.

The call Iceman , known as Ötzi , used leather clothes and hat skin. However, the materials were so worn that it was hard to tell where they came from most of them.

Now a team of scientists have used DNA sequencing to determine which animals provide clothing the Iceman. Mitochondrial DNA showed that the outfit Ötzi consisted of skins of several different species: leggings were goatskin, the loincloth sheep wool, their shoelaces cattle, fur hat brown bear and a thick layer made of goat and sheep.

the bearskins and deer show how the Iceman and his people also hunted wild animals to produce their clothes and tools. Ötzi’s contemporaries were farmers, so clothing made from skins of cattle fit that image. This research was published in the journal Scientific Reports .
