The best features of Android Nougat who may not know – Gizmodo in Spanish

Google finally released Android Nougat users Nexus devices. And this update comes with some great new features such as support for multi-window and a new notification system. But after testing the developer version could find even more features we did not know existed.

The function Battery saving “Doze” now works even if you are moving

Android Marshmallow brought a great feature to save battery defused most things that drain your battery when you let your mobile resting on a table without using it. Now you can save the same amount of energy even when you are moving (without using the mobile). Doze be activated if you do not touch your phone for a while, even if it is in your wallet, moving in your car or in your pocket while you run.

The data saving mode will prevent you complete limit your mobile data

Having a limit to use your data is terrible, but unless you want to pay more on your invoice, you have to keep those applications controlled devouring data as if there were no tomorrow. Saving mode data can help you with this. When you activate this will make any application that is running in the background you can not access your mobile data (unless you add it in a list to afford). If you start approaching your limit, Android invite you to activate saving mode data.

Touching twice in a row the recent apps button will go to the last app you used

The button “recent apps” itself and makes it fairly easy to navigate between apps and Chrome tabs. But Android Nougat if you touch it twice in a row will take you to the last app you used.

If you need to quickly jump from another application that you’ve recently used, simply you can continue playing the button to jump between all applications you have open in the background. In a way it is like using Alt + Tab Windows, but on your mobile. It’s not as fast as simply doing “double tap” once, but it is easier than manually search through all the applications you have habiertas.

Press notification prolonged silences

Android has a huge number of options to manage which applications can send notifications. However, it can be quite tedious to do. But now, Android Nougat, if you see a notification that no pleasing you can press on it and hold to display a list of options. There you can choose to mute or block such notifications altogether. You can also go to the settings menu to fit more precisely

Sets the priority of an application on your notification panel

.

This feature is hidden in the settings menu interface Android. The system can assign a priority level for all your notifications from “zero” (completely blocked) to “five” (show the beginning of the list and allow interruptions screen). You should not normally touch this, but if you have some specific needs for your notifications, this is the place you should go to fit.

The file manager is now much more powerful

from Marshmallow Google Android included a basic file manager allowing navigate between folders, and files to back … basically nothing more. But now the new file manager lets you move and rename your files and folders, and create new folders and all you could do before. That is, does everything a decent file manager should do. You can also open multiple windows manager so you can easily jump from one folder to another. Although there are very good for this application, if you want a manager decent files included in Android now you can have it.

Lock telephone numbers at system level

If you’re tired of telemarketers or robots advertising, Android Nougat has a feature that allows blocking system calls, which means they will be blocked by complete in all mobile. Once this block a number can not send text messages or call. And this setting is maintained even whenever you reformat your phone, or if you change to another model (because the blocked numbers are stored in your Google account). So far there were several ways to block calls on Android but none worked as well as this, because if you bloqueabas your calls just could receive text messages or calls via VoIP. But this new function is responsible for locking the phone number completely.

can set the “Do Not Disturb” mode to turn off automatically when you turn off the snooze alarm

the “Do not Disturb” Android mode allows you to set some quiet hours for most of your notifications (or all, if you wish) are blocked. Android Nougat you can configure for this mode depending on your alarm goes off. For example, if you set up for the “Do Not Disturb” mode is turned off at 7:00 am, but one day you need to wake up at 6:00 am, the mode is deactivated automatically when sound the first alarm without changing the rule for the rest of the day

A new editor that lets you configure your icons “quick settings”

.

the Quick settings menu is quite handy to enable or disable things like WiFi, Bluetooth or automatic screen rotation. Now, you can simply choose which icons you want to see through a new editor that includes Android 7.0 are. Simply slide your finger down from the top of the screen and access the menu Quick Settings, then press the “Edit” button and eliminate those that do not need, including new and rearrange them if you wish.

Sets the size easily

in previous versions of Android could adjust the text size if you wanted to make better use huge size of the screen of your phone. But now, with Android Nougat, you can also adjust the size of icons thanks to a new slider that allows you to resize all elements dela your interface.

The new “Work Mode” can disable all applications related to your job when you finish your day

If the company you work for uses “Android for work” to manage corporate mobile, you can also use this new feature to detach a bit of office chores in your spare time. In the settings menu you will find a new page called “Work Mode Settings” and there you can disable all apps related to your work with one click. Even you can do it from the menu Quick Settings

You can add emergency contacts and medical information to your home screen

.

Android Nougat can add emergency contacts to the phone application, so anyone taking your phone to see who to contact in case of emergency, in addition to relevant and important information about yourself (such as allergies ). You can include your full name, address, date of birth, blood type, known allergies, medications you take, medical condition, if you are an organ donor and more. This is very important and it is appreciated that is now included in the system. To do this you must go to the Settings application and there to section Users, then access the section “Emergency Information” and add there the data.

You no longer have to wait for the system “optimize applications” every time you update the mobile

Since Android update to version 4.4 Kit Kat, each time the system updates need to pass through a phase of “optimizing applications,” the first time restarts. Now Google has modified the system to not have to carry out this phase, and so the upgrade process is much faster. And this means that applications now be installed faster. And I could see, when the mobile took just minutes to download over 100 applications after I did a full format, instead of hours it took in the past.

For months we tried Android Nougat in their different tryouts, and we knew that some of the features that were present in these “betas” would not reach the final version of the operating system. Here are a few that miss:

  • Night mode : for the second year Google included a night mode in the test version of a major upgrade but not included in the
    final release system
  • Manual calibration of the screen . hidden in the settings menu it was an option allowing calibrate the colors and light balances the screen manually. Google decided to remove it from the final version, which is understandable because many could ruin the experience with mobile if configuraban this without knowing what they did.

Android Nougat includes few completely new as the possibility of using split screen are those including many headlines characteristics. But under the hood the system includes a large number of minor adjustments that will help make it easier and enjoyable to use your mobile every day.
