Centennial satellite was uninsured: SCT – The Universal

The Ministry of Communications and Transport (SCT) reported that the Centennial satellite has broad commercial insurance coverage to 100% that protect the investment made by the Mexican State in the manufacture and launch preventive measure contained in the Satellite Mexsat program.
 


 Centennial satellite cost approximately 7 000 500 million pesos, and put into operation and operating, so the figure could vary.
 


 


 The Proton M rocket carrying the satellite lifted off at 00:47 on Saturday, Central Time Mexico, from the Baikonur cosmodrome, Kazakhstan.
 


 


 The company International Launch Services (ILS), responsible for launching the satellite Centenario, reported that during the third stage of the launch, approximately 8.16 minutes after takeoff the carrier rocket Proton-M, failed the mission.
 


 


 ILS said it will create a commission of inquiry to that effect.
 


 


 Within the Mexican satellite program is contemplated for next October the satellite launch Morelos 3 from Cape Canaveral, by Lockheed Martin Commercial Launch Services, in order to fulfill the same functions as the Centennial satellite connectivity: provide services mobile voice, data and video for people, land vehicles, aircraft and vessels.

The SCT will give a press conference at 10:00, while Mexico City, from the Satellite Control Center MEXSAT, in Hermosillo, Sonora.
