TVs LG 2016 will offer a number of new features, courtesy of an update to its software.
The South Korean electronics giant announced this week that it will released its line of Smart TVs during the 2016 electronics show in Las Vegas, known as CES next month. Something that is key in the new TV lineup is the 3.0 software update LG known as WebOS, which allows users access channels, online content, apps and other functions.
Consumers face a growing, even dizzying variety of options for electronic entertainment. Smart TVs have to compete for attention with Blu-ray devices, media players and game consoles. One way is by offering access to applications, games, and online streaming services like Netflix and Hulu. This variety, however, means that interfaces for smart TVs are often confusing and difficult to use. Through WebOS, LG has tried to offer a simpler way to control and use all the features of its Smart TV.
So what’s new in WebOS 3.0? LG is promoting three major new features.
A feature called Magic Zoom can zoom the TV screen for text or larger images without affecting image quality. With Magic Mobile Connection You can connect your smartphone Android to your LG TV to see your mobile apps on the screen. . And with the new Magic Remote can control DVRs and cable box with one remote control
Other new features include:
An advisory channels (Channel Advisor) watch your programs favorites and displays information about upcoming programs that you see often. Multi-View allows you to view the contents of two different sources simultaneously, for example, two channels or one channel and a film running on the Blu-ray. A new music application (Music Player) can play music through the TV speakers without turning on the TV.
You can register up to 10 of your favorite channels and see what is happening in all of them without having to leave the current screen. LG also is riding on the wave of the Internet of Things and now allows you to control smart appliances from your compatible TV. Finally, a new feature called Channel Plus transmits television and online programs, all in a single list so you can jump easily between a Web program and one on TV.
You can update the software on your LG Smart TV smart WebOS 3.0? LG has not said much about it. A company spokesman said that LG is not ready to make any announcements about potential improvements.
LG plans to launch its Smart TVs from 2016 to the first quarter of the year, the spokesman said.
In 2013, LG software acquired WebOS Hewlett-Packard, which tried to use the software for their mobile products, but the attempt was thwarted. Instead of using the operating system on their own mobile devices, LG WebOS as an interface adapted to their Smart TV. Since then, the company has expanded WebOS using it as a source for LG Wearable Platform a smart watch that enhances the LG, the LG Watch Urbane operating system.
