Russian spacecraft this morning disintegrated over the Pacific – The Universal

The Russian freighter Progress M-27M , which deviated from its orbit after being launched a week ago bound for the Space Station International (ISS) this morning disintegrated.

“According to the national control system in space, the spacecraft entered the dense layers of the atmosphere and burned,” the Russian space agency, Roscosmos.

The freighter “ceased to exist at 05:04 Moscow time (02.04 GMT) after entering the dense layers of the atmosphere in the central part of Pacific Ocean “, the agency said in a statement.

The ship was launched on April 28 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome (Kazakhstan) route to the ISS, but the Control Center Space Flight Russia lost control after the freighter stay located in a wrong orbit and stop sending data to Earth.

All attempts to regain control of automatic ship, which was carrying the International Space Station about 2.5 tons of supplies-fuel, oxygen, food, scientists-teams were unsuccessful.

The Progress, which are used for 35 years, is one of the great prides of the Russian aerospace industry with an almost immaculate record: hitherto only been in an accident in August 2011, caused by a failure of the carrier rocket.
